About me

Picture
​I have been a Team Leader for 9 years in the Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist, leading a team of remote sensing and environmental scientists to undertake cutting edge science in environmental monitoring and modelling. Previous roles with the Department of the Environment and Energy include undertaking ecological risk assessments for Australia’s tropical rivers, and science communication. Prior to working in government, I co-founded a start-up company focused on commercialising the use of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery for environmental monitoring.

Education

  • ​Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Charles Darwin University (May 2006). Thesis: Remote Sensing of Melaleuca on Tropical Floodplains
  • Bachelor of Science Honours (First Class), Northern Territory University (May 1999). Thesis: Mapping and Visualising the Geomorphology of the Arafura Swamp Using Remote Sensing and GIS Technologies for Indigenous Natural Resource Management
  • Bachelor of Science, Northern Territory University (May 1998)

  • ​Remote Pilot’s License (RePL) 
  • RePL endorsements: Aeroplane up to 25kgs (restricted); Multi-rotor up to 25 kgs

  • Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (ReOC) – Chief Remote Pilot
